In 2018, our team of recent graduates and college ministry staff moved from California to Evanston, Illinois to start a local church where everyone – Christians who want to grow in their faith, those curious about Christianity, or those who just want some delicious food – can find answers to their questions about God, Jesus, and Christianity.

For many of us, college was a memorable time. Though each of us came to college with different expectations and beliefs, we all became inspired by the church in Acts 2: a community of believers for whom “church” was more than a building, but a people, going through life together through the highs and lows, striving to share God’s love and the good news of the gospel: the story of Jesus, someone more than just an ancient figure from 2,000 years ago, but is still transforming people’s lives today.

Along the way, the Bible became more than just moral stories/an ancient book but personal realities for us, and we found ourselves becoming part of God’s story of inviting people to “come and see”.

So if you went to church, hated church, or just want to discuss questions about life, we invite you to “come and see”: the Bible, the God who reveals Himself, and our church community!

What do we do?

Here’s what happens at [make]new throughout the year!

BIBLE STUDY

College is the perfect time to ask big questions like, “Does God exist?” and “What am I here for?” Here you’ll find a safe space to ask and answer those questions, and God's Word is where it starts for us. From special events to casual café meet-ups, you can share your perspectives with us.

community

It's easy to feel lost in a big crowd - we've been there. But you don't have to go through it alone! We build relationships and just "do life" together: chicken soup for the sick days, late night study sessions, birthday celebrations, road trips...the list goes on!

FELLOWSHIP

“Fellowship” = friends, company, equals. [make]new is a place to be yourself, make new friends, and create fun memories. So no matter where you’re from or where you’ve been, we invite you to join us!
